You mean a thing that may induce a feeling of FOMO is locked behind a paywall to entice users to sign up for premium?

I have no FOMO, strava is nice to see friends, but they dropped the ball when the app did nothing more than receive data from other ecosystems and couldn’t connect to measuring devices. That and and people cheating at the segments and KOMs just made it a „Facebook of sports“.
Feels like everything these days is being designed and marketed specifically for the whales.

I’ve had Strava for years, I won’t miss this feature because it always seems to come across as „look at how you’ve failed this year.“

This is honestly kind of a nuts choice, because of the free marketing of people posting this.
But I’m sure they’re counting on people signing up for the free month of premium for this and then forgetting to cancel.

Click on your profile, select „Statistics“ to see total distance, elevation gain and time for the year. Anything else is just fluff imo. Absurd that they are trying to charge for an infographic summary.
They took another round of Private Equity earlier this year. Paywalls like this will continue to appear and the app will be squeezed to death.
Strava has gone downhill. Its only value is its user base because of the social aspect. Most of the metrics and such it provides in its subscription are found in Apple Fitness/Garmin Connect/Coros/(insert wearable or tracker here) corresponding app.
And if you don’t pay, you get absolutely inundated with ads to buy premium. At the top of the app, pop splash screen, in your feed, in the settings page, you name it.
Soon you won’t buy anything anymore. You’ll just rent it from the rich. 🙄

I wouldn’t even know what Strava was unless the title here had pointed out that it was a fitness tracking app.
This is classic strava, you really can’t do anything except record rides with the free package. Year after year we lose more, locked away behind the paywall.
I love strava, but I don’t use it nearly as much as I used to because of this.
This actually happened a few years ago (maybe they brought it back to free since?). But I remember it clearly because that’s when I decided to cancel my sub and delete all my daily runs from Strava. I now only upload my races. I think it’s shitty to charge for features you previously provided for free.
My subscription just ran out. I kind of liked the AI analysis. I kind of liked the way it did heart rate. I did like being able to compare the old rides better. And I liked the year end review. But the whole Garmin thing was petty and annoying and I’ve decided to not renew and am using it for free. Whatever, I’ve come close to going running with my old Timex watch and just stop recording. Dang FOMO is a strong drug.
This is a misleading title. It’s 80 bucks for a year subscription, you don’t only get the wrapped feature. I’m subscribed because I like to use their heat maps for when I’m traveling and making routes from it. The wrapped feature was just a nice add on.
