No surprise, that is what the ‘notwithstanding’ clause means, the courts have no choice as the law is not violated by its invocation.

What used to be a rare and controversial invocation has suddenly become common.

Changing the constitution is a non-runner, but local people in the relevant jurisdictions can and should punish governments for taking away their rights.

      >“Bill 9 preserves the choices of children and youth,“

**as long as they agree with us**

      >“strengthens the role of parents as a child’s primary caregiver“

**as long as they agree with us** I mean, maybe I’m mistaken but lots of parents don’t like this ruling.

      >and ensures fairness and safety in amateur competitive sports,“ the statement says.**

Sounds good, but let’s be even more encompassing. Much like gender/sex testing let’s go further and test **ALL** for PEDs, as well as charge heavy fees so we can fund underprivileged areas. That way they have the exact same practice and equipment opportunities as the people in private programs, and it’s fair and safe as UCP demands.

      >“Alberta’s United Conservative government will be unapologetic in our commitment to these principles.“

You’re not lying, I’ll definitely give you that UCP. The fact you welcomed the person who compared trans people to bits of feces in a cookie back into your party shows us you are committed to your „principles“.

I just feel horrible for the kids who won’t get proper health care because Danielle Smith feels that it is necessary to demonstrate her capacity for cruelty against vulnerable innocents to activist bigots in her base.

      > One of those laws is Bill 26, which prevents doctors from providing gender-affirming treatment like puberty blockers to youth under the age of 16.

I don’t know, I think it’s pretty within the provinces purview to put what I believe are reasonable restrictions on the type of medical procedures that can be performed/given to children.
