    1. > Bowen Yang is exiting “Saturday Night Live” in the middle of his eighth season on the show. His last turn as a cast member will be this Saturday’s episode, which is being hosted by Ariana Grande with Cher as musical guest.

Wonder if something happened suddenly or it was (more likely) always a plan to have the Ariana Grande show be his last?

I think he’s just outgrown the show at this point and it’s probably keeping him from other opportunities. He’s easily the biggest star of the show.

They made a deal to keep him on just until Ariana hosted because of his attachment to Wicked. He didn’t sign another 7 year contract

I imagine he has a role or some sort of opportunity that is coming up that asked if he could start early and he asked for permission and in turn given permission to wrap up his SNL career a few months early . That is my guess why he is not ending his time on SNL at the end of the season .

I expect a decline in objects talking on Weekend Update, no more iceberg or drone op eds.

    7. Do we know who is hosting next? Seems he stayed to work with Ariana (a great host imo) and then dipped I *really* want to know who they are scheduling next…

Bowen was literally the first asian hired to be a main cast member after the show had been on for decades. I hope he won’t be the last.

There was a blind item about this a couple weeks. So its been coming…

His Titanic iceberg is one of my favorite SNL memories. “First of all, you came to where I live and YOU hit ME…”

Other than Che, Colin and Kenan, do you think, let’s say, 3/100 people on the street could name a single SNL cast member?

    12. This has been circulating for a few weeks/months now! Especially with Ariana hosting and Cher performing. The perfect send off for him.

Getting slapped by Cher in the promo was his personal career peak. You don’t get better than that. Finish at the top.

Not a shocker at all and not surprised he would leave here with Ariana hosting. It’s very fitting, right before Christmas as well and the New Year, to end it now.

He had a great run and he’s been pretty much openly saying that the days on SNL were numbered. He and Matt have something really good cooking and this is for the best.

That’s crazy, too bad! He was always some of the funniest parts of sketches

    16. I know I’m in the minority but I’m thrilled. I won’t miss him being in 80% of sketches while playing the same character over and over.

    17. freakdageek on

I watched the last SNL and couldn’t understand why so many sketches were just him doing the one character and beat that he does in everything he’s in.

    18. Yangs entire career was an attempt to meet Cher, so, he’s probably just going to disappear from the world entirely now and become a lawyer or an Uber driver or some shit.

    19. Good for him. Ashley Padilla and Bowen Yang are big fish in a crowded pond.
