Every government blames migrants or foreigners for the mess they have domestically, thats how they get away with it .
The foreign bashing has been going for a while. Foreigners are eating all the rice, foreigners buy all apartments, 34% of all foreigners are not paying the healthcare taxes, blablabla. After they rounded the few illegals, the ones not paying taxes or just eating too much rice, they will continue to pile on us (no welfare for foreigners paying taxes like proposed by the Sanseito) because those are easy low hanging fruits and have to look busy. This will change nothing for the Japanese folks.
As always, blaming others for your own problems is the easy way out.
Gross. As a foreigner who studied the Japanese language, this upswing in xenophobia doesn’t make me want to visit Japan again any time soon.
As an American, I’ve seen this shit before. Hopefully you don’t end up with Japanese ICE harassing anyone they think looks foreign.
Each new PM has a honeymoon period, and they are always taken in good faith for some reason. It seems that the *non-voting* public just assume that whoever ends up in charge must be the best person for the job because they got there. The *voting* public cares at least enough to voice their opinion, and that’s because they have strong but awful opinions. Turnout is abysmal.
