A what now? Never have I heard of a „superkilonova“
they really gloss over one of the more interesting stellar events I’ve ever heard of here – *fission*? during a core collapse? i mean… what? it’s from the speed of rotation? so was it a centrifugal force that splits the core in two when the collapse or rebound occurs? and it makes two neutron stars in the process, and they immediately collide? so it’s like a two stage *nova event?
