Finns too expect Finnish government to act over offensive slant-eyes posts. I’m afraid both us and Japan will be disappointed.

      >The images were posted by three members of the right-wing Finns Party, whose leader is deputy prime minister.

      >Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo issued an apology that the Embassy of Finland in Tokyo posted on X.

      >The statement, in Japanese, expressed sincere regret for the posts.

    3. Good. Keep it on the surface, keep it visible. Shame, laugh, punish and make these drunk facepullers, bar shooters, wiferbeaters, bacwards functionally illiterate freaks feel the collective shame and derision of every second. Even an animal will learn when punished. I hope these conservatards are better than that, but realistically I do think we will always have that one part of Finland that will forever pull others down in order to feel better about their own failures and inadequacy in a world that keeps on improving regradless of their best efforts to keep it spiralling down.

    4. They’ve been made to apologize publicly. other members of the government called them out.

I find it interesting how Finish PM thought the first thing to say about slanted eye gesture is that it’s childish and not that it’s racist, why is it hard to outright condemn the gesture as racist from the get go when it’s so obvious it was racist?

If this circus isn’t enough for Finns Party to drop in support (it already has, but not enough!) then this country is doomed.

Fuck every single one of them! As if we didn’t have enough problems already…

I have a finish colleague who hates gays due to religion, an old man…

    8. You know that Japanese are one of the most racist people in the world themselves, right?

Lol, a country that never apologized for mutilating millions of Chinese children seeks a formal apology from a country where some random politicians did a racist gesture.

The modern world is a circus

It should be noted that the politicians in question belong to the far-right party whose name is often translated as “The Finns Party”. But the literal translation would be “Basic Finns”. Which is an accurate description of them and their voters.

Why are the Japanese (Asian) demanding the Finns (Asian) an apology for doing the slant eye?

This is like a black person saying the n word to another black person; there’s nothing offensive about it.

    12. I wouldn’t even be offended. Japanese, and certainly Koreans have WAY better resistance to age related sagging with the eyes. I would be like „oh, thanks!“

Spoiler, they won’t, Kokoomus got their dream to happen and won’t dissolve cabinet over anything.

What do they want us to do? I’m waiting for the next election so i can once again vote against these assholes and hope for the best.

I can’t believe we’re not throwing these people off a cliff over this. Solid trade relations are a bit more important right now than letting adult politicians act like brats

I thought the Japanese are not snowflakes and can really have a sense of humor but they are acting like someone mocks the holocaust. WTF?!?

    17. „Not racist“: redditors regularly seeing asians as robotic copying hive mind incapable of having real emotions

      „Racist“: jokes

This is why you shouldn’t vote for ring-wingers. They just farm L’s and make uninvolved people look bad by association, even if it’s very separated.
