  1. In 1902 Venezuela refused to pay foreign debts and the European powers sank the Venezuelan navy and blockaded their ports.

This resulted in the Roosevelt Corollary, where the U.S. declared itself the „police officer“ of the Western Hemisphere to keep Europeans out. Ironically, the U.S. is now using that same „police“ power against Venezuela itself.

  2. This should be interesting. Will the USA just straight up attack their navy now?

OK now let’s see who is really willing to blink first. I hope both sides just keep posturing or better still Trump moves onto something else but it’s now getting to that point of no return.

  4. Well guess we might be about to find out whether Trumps blockade is a bluff or real.

If Trump were gone would all this stop, or would the wider Republican party continue with this?

  6. Weird how i saw the usa as an „example“ like an older uncle or grandfather when i was younger. Now i see the us as that school bully that turned out hated by everyone and homeless

The Venezuelan navy will back down, I don’t agree with what the US is doing but the Venezuelan navy is more like a Coast guard that loses ships to cruise liners.

Is this another, how did our oil manage to get under your ground?

Venezuela seems to be playing the only game that will work. They have to let America fire first in the game of international politics. Cementing firmly that America is most definitely the bad guy. It will cost the lives of whichever naval vessel performs the escort unfortunately.

This is actually a Competent Move by Maduro. Its been pretty clear that trump wants Venezuela to shoot first but thus far Maduro not being a complete moron (hes still a horrific dictator and a idiot in his own right) hasn’t bit. And by escorting the tankers the US either has to shoot first or let them pass.

Shit’s gotta go down today. Epstein files get released tomorrow…..

  13. Epstein files release on Friday, in betting a 100$ on land invasion from USA on the same day

The orange felon will cause a war in SA, either by going to war themselves, or by giving Venezuela a pretends to expand and ready their military, so they they can take over neighboring Guyana.

Guyana can’t even appeal for the Venezuelan military to step down while the orange felon credibly threatens the Venezuelan existence.

  15. Ironically the two Naval ships escorting the tanker are named The Franz and The Ferdinand.

Is this ultimately about the Panama Canal? He talked about taking it a while back, then completely stopped. Could still be his goal, while publically saying he’s going against Venezuela and Colombian cartels.

This situation is more nuanced than anyone is willing to consider right now. If it’s part of the shadow fleet sending sanctioned oil, I am all about seizing the vessel. That’s a pretty easy decision. The one we seized the other day appeared to be a part of that shadow fleet. If the next one is as well, that really makes the decision vastly different. Now, if this is a continuation of the war on drugs, Trump can fuck off.
