national speeches used to unite. now theyre just long form content for outrage cycles. the medium became the message… and the message is noise.

I’m old enough to remember the stories of Castro giving a speech yeah we all laughed. That could NEVER happen in this country.

Does he think if he repeats the lies enough, they will become the truth? And he claims to fight against the things he is doing or causing to happen.

There is now law requiring networks to air this, they could easily have denied him as they did to Obama when he wanted to talk about immigration. But they are bought and paid for so we all know they won’t…fucking fascists all of them

    5. That speech had all the intellectual heft of a drunken note on a cocktail napkin.

81% of republicans support this asshole. Even after all of this.

There were only two truths from his entire speech: his mouth was closed before he started speaking, and his mouth was closed after he finished speaking.

Always sounds like he’s reading promo copy for The Apprentice. Has anyone told him he doesn’t have a TV show anymore?

    9. It’s pathetic. Just absolutely pathetic. Such a waste of everyone’s time except the MAGA morons who cheer every word he expels. Listening to him talk is like having your face pressed against a belt sander. He will never accept responsibility for anything negative – that’s all Bidens fault. But anything positive (if there *is* anything) is all due to his amazing genius leadership … FFS.

I liked the part where he screamed “it’s all the democrats fault! It’s not the republicans fault! It’s the democrats fault!”

    11. Never knew an American Preisdent could hate Americans so damn much. Like he just hates us. With a bottomless fire of it. It’s equally shocking and sad. He’s just so awful to everyone.

    12. Apparently he interrupted the season finale of survivor for this rant. I don’t watch it but knew he knew the right time to get intervene. I just watched it because I thought he was going to declare war on Venezuela.

It was just a ramble saying everything is great and if it’s not it’s Bidens fault. Even quote “When we first heard the word affordability”. That word has been used for centuries.

    13. Does this mean the fact-checkers are going to need to be on amphetamines just to keep up with that bullshit?

Lying about rising prices is only going to piss off almost everyone. Even his base must see their grocery bills going up, especially the MAGA faithful who show up at his rallies and (mostly) appear to be of modest financial means.

So, a serious question. What was the objective here? The only thing I can think of is that this was a response to poor polling figures and Trump honestly believes people will be convinced by this.

Sounded like someone was having a tantrum on my tv in the background.

    19. “*When I took office, inflation was the worst in 48 years, and some would say in the history of our country*.”

When he took office, it was 2.9. At the same point in 2008, when Obama took over after W’s administration, it was 4.3. Nobody is saying that.

      “*Wages are up.*”

There hasn’t been a minimum wage increase since 2009, making this the longest period of US history since 1938 when the minimum wage was implemented where there hasn’t been an increase. Fun fact, the FLSA of 1938 that implemented the minimum wage pulled us out of the Great Depression, which was worsened by tariffs. And that was also the last period where republicans controlled the entire US government.

      “*Prices are down*.”

No, they’re not. While the inflation has leveled off a bit, prices are still rising, just not as fast. Prices going down is “deflation”, and we’re not seeing that.

“*America is respected, and our country is back stronger than ever before*.”

We used to be seen as a joke. Now we’re regarded somewhere between anger and pity, like a methhead screaming at people on the street. We’re internationally reviled.

This dickhead and his pack of chili-ring-licking sycophants (despite everything, he still has a 33% approval on economy and 38% approval overall) have kamikaze’d this country. I don’t think we’ll ever be able to recover from this.

    20. The economy is both doing fantastic because of Trump and his policies yet concurrently in the shitter because of everything Biden did during his term. That’s what he was trying to sell and thinking people wouldn’t notice.
