Of the various actor/directors there are only a couple that really leave a mark and the others mostly seem to just use the job as a way to advance passion projects no one else will take, for better or for worse. I think at this point Leo knows his usefulness in getting a movie he wants made is not stepping behind the camera but simply attaching himself to star and that will square away funding.
