      The BBC should never have apologised, all they did was show the start and end of the speech missing out the middle, which made a terrible speech look a little worse. This is nothing compared to the nonsense seen on US new channels such as Fox News.

      Trump accused Britain’s publicly owned broadcaster of defaming him by splicing together parts of a January 6, 2021, speech, including one section where he told supporters to march on the Capitol and another where he said „fight like hell“. It omitted a section in which he called for peaceful protest.

      Here’s the section Trump is referring to:

      „I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.“ (Note that this is the only time in his entire speech that he used the word „peace“. He used the word „fight“ almost 20 times.)

      And his later comment:

      „But I said something’s wrong here, something is really wrong, can have happened.

      And we fight. We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.“

      Also, Jan 6 was the culmination of Trump’s continuous attempts, ever since the election in November, to overthrow the result. Here’s a video of those events (note that it’s over 2 hours long, but it covers the subject very thoroughly, so it’s definitely worth watching):

      Sure what the BBC did was poor…. But they edited footage together. That’s it.

      This lawsuit was filed in a *U.S. Federal Court*, in Miami, meaning U.S. laws apply, not British ones.

      Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against the BBC cannot be settled. The BBC is a publicly funded organization, and paying out billions in taxpayer money to a foreign leader would cause a massive political scandal in the UK.

      Further, the BBC maintains that while the edit was a mistake, it was not legally defamatory and they are prepared to fight the case to protect their journalistic independence. With the recent resignations of the BBC’s top leaders, there is currently no one with the authority or political support to negotiate such a historic payout.

      The BBC were idiots for doing this. Your president is a moron for thinking he has a chance in hell of winning or even getting a settlement.

      But hey it’s American taxpayer dollar so what does he care.

      Standing. Everyone go look it up. How on earth can an American sue a foreign entity in an American court for libel/slander for things this entity said outside the US? And the plaintiff will have to show the defendants behavior led to actual losses, which means orange turdbag will have to open up the books if he wants to prove a financial loss.

      Lfg BBC. If anyone needs help in the UK with their BBC fee, lmk, I’ll pay a couple to beef up their defense.
