You can clearly see that a lot of countries are influenced by their English pronounciation, or their native name. But Russia? How does Russia or Rossija become „E Guo“?

    2. If you literally translate Spain by character you get West Spot Tooth. (FYI Portugal is Grape Tooth)

funny how Italy’s Yi Da Li sounds like an actual chineese person that just learned about Italy

Is there a reason Bosnia pronunciation is one of the closest to original?

    5. I love that most European countries are written phonetically, except for a very few, like England, Germany and France. And there’s Montenegro as Hēishān which literally means black mountain.

In this case Chinese means mandarin or?

I assume the pronunciation can slightly differ between mandarin cantonese and other sinitic languages.

Yi da li is simply a rhyme of Italy and you can’t convince me otherwise

    8. Why do I feel like Romania translates to something weird like crazy horse or sümṣ̌it

I think some have been adopted from other dialects, maybe Cantonese.

Germans name is very practical lol. Two digit ISO country code for Germany (DE) + country (Guo).

    11. Most of the country names follow the phonetic and at the same time Iceland becomes „Cold island“

    12. Many of them are abbreviated names. For exemple, the full name for France is Fa Lan Xi Gong He Guo, where Fa Lan Xi refers to France, Gong He means republic, and Guo means country.

    13. What does Rui Dian (Sweden) mean in Chinese? Since it doesn’t sound phonetically as neither „Sweden“ or „Sverige“ (or even „Svea Rike“). The closest thing is Ruotsi (Sweden in Finnish), but even there it isn’t that close phonetically.
