    1. After months of speculation about his future on the radio, Howard Stern has signed a new contract with SiriusXM.

Stern announced his new deal with the satellite radio giant on his show Tuesday morning, telling listeners that his new contract comes with “more free time,” while “continuing to be on the radio.”

“So yes, we are coming back for three years,” Stern said.

SiriusXM had no immediate comment on the terms of the new deal.

Stern, 71, had been the subject of rumor-mongering because his current five-year deal is due to expire in a couple of weeks.

In August, the US Sun claimed that “The Howard Stern Show” was “set to be canceled after a stunning 20-year run.” The story also suggested that Stern’s exit might be related to his outspoken criticism of President Trump.

The Sun story drew a lot of attention despite its thin sourcing. A SiriusXM executive then said of Stern and his crew, “We’d love them to stay,” but “it certainly has to make sense” financially.

I remember he’d do this EVERY time his contract was up, even back in the 80s. He always said he was going to retire and simply signs a new deal. This should not be a surprise

“You either die a radio legend or live long enough to see yourself become a basement podcaster”

Do people still listen to him? He was only popular because he was edgy at a time when there were a lot of restrictions on what can be said on radio

More free time is interesting. After his last deal, I fell off listening because I never knew when his show would be on or even new.

Next time you get a rental car with Sirius I challenge anyone to listen to his show for more than five minutes. It’s unfathomably bad.

But wait, didn’t MAGA say he was washed up and going to be fired. You mean to tell me they were wrong (again)? How can that be?

    8. Kinda wild that when it’s all said and done he’ll be on sxm longer than terrestial radio

I had SiriusXM for free when I bought my truck brand new for a year. When it ran out I was getting calls daily asking to renew but the subscription was overpriced for the offering so I let it expire. Fast forward years later they went from charging me 150 a year to begging me for $3-5 a month for it lmfao. They must be struggling

    10. reading history: like 30-40 years ago on commercial radio he dominated public conversation with controversy due to raunchy burlesque-style sex themes on his show  —

after switching to a subscription pay radio model he lost his public prominence — traded audience and mass fame for more money and fewer restrictions — I didn’t really know who he is or why he is significant until research — he just shows up on my feed time to time — I guess he is revered because he is old and rich?
