Wait, they had a claim to civility? Since when?
Tbf those claims were undercut before they even made them lol. They don’t give af about human suffering or loss of life. They only pretend to be appalled by violence when it’s momentarily convenient for them. Then it’s back to telling people to get over the next mass shooting because it’s no big deal and just part of life.

But there are two big differences between that and what Trump said about Reiner: 1) Kirk was, objectively, a little prick; and 2) *we should hold the motherfucking President to a higher standard than we hold anonymous Redditors to!*

Nobody really noticed that Trump made Charlie Kirk’s murder about himself, because Charlie Kirk was likely killed over his politics which aligned with Trump, and it was an easy segue into his assassination attempt and making it about him and the horrible left etc.
But whenTrump made Rob Reiner’s death about himself, It becomes blatantly obvious that these two things are not connected. It becomes blatantly obvious he’s a narcissistic old man who is gleefully spitting on Rob Reiner’s grave.

It took negative time for anyone to realize this because Hortman had been murdered just months before and they showed zero signs of humanity at the time. It was impossible to take their pleas for civility and „toning down of violent rhetoric“ with any seriousness.
