Nach Angaben des ukrainischen Sicherheitsdienstes haben seine Unterwasserdrohnen am 15. Dezember im Hafen von Noworossijsk ein russisches U-Boot getroffen. Es handelte sich um den ersten gemeldeten Angriff dieser Art, wodurch das Schiff außer Dienst gestellt wurde.
Bei dem Angriff wurden Sea-Baby-Navel-Drohnen eingesetzt, um ein U-Boot der Varshavyanka-Klasse anzugreifen, das laut SBU vier Abschussvorrichtungen für Kalibr-Marschflugkörper trug, die von Russland regelmäßig für Angriffe auf ukrainische Städte und Infrastruktur eingesetzt werden.
Der Angriff wurde gemeinsam von der 13. Hauptdirektion für militärische Spionageabwehr des SBU und der ukrainischen Marine durchgeführt.
"Das Schiff erlitt schwere Schäden und war praktisch außer Betrieb." schrieb die SBU auf Telegram.
Nach Angaben der Agentur wird der Wert des U-Boots auf etwa 400 Millionen US-Dollar geschätzt, aufgrund internationaler Sanktionen könnten die Kosten für den Bau eines Ersatzboots jedoch auf 500 Millionen US-Dollar steigen, hieß es.
Der SBU fügte hinzu, dass das U-Boot in Noworossijsk angedockt worden sei, nachdem frühere erfolgreiche Angriffe ukrainischer Überwasserdrohnen die russische Marine zum Rückzug aus Sewastopol auf der besetzten Krim gezwungen hatten.
