There is nothing bubbly about AI. We’re going to spend most of the global GDP to buy AI GPUs we have no power for or space to use consuming the entire world supply of RAM and SSD chips, that have a life cycle of 18 months before they’re obsolete.
It makes perfect sense.

It’s OK guys. Sam Altman is making God. I mean OK his business runs at a structural loss and won’t make a penny for roughly half a decade, he has financial outlay commitments totalling 1.4 TRILLION DOLLARS, and Chat GPT returns inaccurate results roughly a third of the time, but everything is completely fine.
All on the up and up.

On the bright side, GPUs will be cheap for gamers in about 6 months. Plenty of games to distract us from the global demolition of democratic societies

Oh so you mean the ashes of the AI bubble will create a 1200% increase in millionaires and billionaires, exactly like the dot com bubble did?
Yes, that is why I am still investing.

Difference is the Fed is hello bent on helping blow this bubble since they and congress are making a lot of money in the stock market.

I don’t recall the rise of the web being specifically intended to cause widespread human misery.
If anything, it seemed to offer the hope of all sorts of interesting new businesses and job opportunities.
Well, until everything went to shit because the Zuckerborg creature stole his friend’s idea because he wanted to stalk girls.

Yeah but Dot-Com was not a „super cycle“

Today’s tech “prophets” push a narrative that God-like artificial superintelligence is inevitable, and only they can ensure humanity’s safety from their creations.

There’s too much anti AI sentiment for it to be a bubble.
I remember the Dot Com bubble. Literally everyone was using their life savings to buy anything with a .com.
Looking forward, it was the same with the housing crisis. Average Joes were buying houses they can’t afford because the bank gave them loans to do it. Looking back at the great depression, people were buying stock with bank loans with zero collateral.
When the common folk and the institutions are both 100% convinced there’s no way to lose money, that’s when we have a bubble.
We will likely have corrections, but there’s too much anti AI sentiment for a bubble to really get going right now. When the average Joe start having FOMO about missing out on the AI train, that’s when shit’s about to hit the fan.

It’s much worse than the dot com bubble, because that was just an overenthusiasm about new companies. This is massive firms cooking their books in broad daylight by investing in companies that turn around and give the money back to buy their product.
The only way I can make sense of this is that the fear of China having superior AI is making the government prop up these firms.

Umm duh.. American’s are scared of AI and do not have clear use cases. If it did not cost so much I would at least vibe code. I like AI image to 3D mesh tools.

Dot com created a lot of great infrastructure that didn’t get fully utilized until 10-15 years later. The capital expenditure this time might not be as useful ever
