They don’t want to fight Doug Ford. They want to be Doug Ford. In the last election they campaigned as a photocopy of the PCs, and they don’t appear to have learned anything from the experience.
If its NES they arent going to win.
Ford will easily paint him as a nimby liberal (despite Ford being a nimby himself) and the electorate will base their views on it.
Finding the progressive version of Ford is how to beat him (or he beats himself when the CPC have a scandal that pisses off his own base and even they hate it).
