A petrol bomb attack on a house in Edenderry, Co Offaly killed 4 year-old Tadgh Farrell and his grand aunt Mary Holt. Gardaí believe it was a gangland retaliation, possibly ordered from inside prison after a dispute. A 14-year-old has emerged as a suspect and Gardaí say he was closely involved. Two men in their early 20s, linked to organised crime, are also being investigated. CCTV shows two people throwing the bomb and running off. The investigation is ongoing.
*The most shocking part is the age of the suspect. A 14 year old being involved in something this vicious is beyond disturbing and shows how criminal gangs are dragging kids into serious violence. If that’s proven, it’s hard to see how society can treat it as anything other than an extremely serious, life altering crime.*
Hope they don’t stop at this level. Gardai need to chop the head of these gangs

Every single person who was, at any point in time, complicit in involving that 14 year old in gangland activity, should be in the dock for murder. I don’t care if it was having him run messages or keep watch while they sold drugs – it all led to this day and they are all responsible for these deaths.
Use this as an opportunity to draw a line in the sand that shows these depraved scumbags that children are off limits.
As someone who works in the criminal courts, and came across 4 arsons in a single work week recently, this is sadly becoming very common as is the use of very young children to do the act.
A 14 year old killed a 4 year old because 2 men got into a scrap in prison. This is really messed up!
no surprise, we’ve normalized youth violence and tolerated it (at least on here and other social media) under some pretense that 12 to 14 year olds committing attacks and dealing drugs „happened back in the 80s“ (which of course it didn’t)
Any gang or adult using children for crimes should be tried under child grooming laws and obviously in this case be in the dock for murder.
The young fella that was killed in Drogheda and dismembered had previously been involved in arson attacks.
It’s well known that drug dealers rope children into working for them as they see them as sort of untouchable by Gardaí. They were doing this shit when I was a teenager 30 odd years ago. I honestly would not be surprised if it was older guys making the young guy carry out the attack.
