This is what Pro Palestine protestors asked for ever since 8.10.23.
This is what “globalize the intifada” looks like.

  2. Assuming this is the motive- Whatever you feel about Israel, this would have to be just about the stupidest way to get that point across.

Edit- probably don’t need DMs calling me a terrorist thanks

What does killing random people achieve?

    **EDIT**
For those saying targeting Jews is not random. The Jewish people are also regular people.

unless they were targeting specific persons, this is just an act of killing random people.

I understand there is likely some religious motive behind it all.

  4. Israel’s government and their slaughter of Palestinians is abhorrent.

But the actions of people like this is just as evil. Simply being Jewish is not the same as being responsible for Israel’s actions. No human deserves this treatment.
It is the same moronic behaviour as to associate those who follow the Islamic faith with extremist groups.

Harming Australians is narrow minded and lacks any sense. It will never generate support for your agenda. Murdering innocents will never justify your agenda.

Australia is a place of many cultures and that helps to make it great. I hate that this will create division.

No one should ever be attacked like this.

Edit: News interviews in Australia are saying that the attack was directed at a children’s celebration of Hanukkah.

    Also suggesting 3 gunmen.

Australia has virtually no mass shootings since their gun ban. This is something akin to a terrorist attack

Local here – unfortunately this is going to be a lot more than 3 fatalities.

  7. Whatever your stance is towards Israel i don’t really care, but this is bleeding into innocent people who has NOTHING to do with it and there ARE CERTAIN groups who are weaponizing it to spew anti semitism. Unless there is a „proper“ discussion about it without any ifs and buts and any group victimizing themselves, these things will continue to happen.

please as an Australian and someone who lives
in Sydney – we don’t know what happened. it is a an atrocity even more atrocious that this happened at what was supposed to be a celebration. we have had a huge surge in gun violence in Sydney this year – while this appears to be a mass casualty event, we have a shooting in Sydney now nearly every week, there were over 30 shots fired in a suburb this morning. we cannot get guns easily in this country – especially in a metropolitan area – this appears to be a sophisticated attack and was not organised by just these two perpetrators. we won’t know more until the weekend is over. this is incredibly distressing for all of us who live in this country and we must come together in mateship and more during these times.

Seeing the videos coming in of this. I think there’s going to be a lot of casualties unfortunately.

  10. Watched a Video. Apparently guy in Black shirt was shooting. Chad in white shirt ambushed the fuck waiting for him to reload hiding behind a car. And wrestled the rifle away and uno reversod him. Its on twitter if you want to look for it. I suspect that is why 2 guys were arrested. The original gunmen and the Chad.

*edit* so 2 gunmen and 1 Chad.

The world really is going to shit rn. When you see the amount of pure hatred on places like instagram for just about any group of people, including Jewish people, it’s a wonder we don’t see more of these events occurring

  12. Making Jews feel unsafe so they consider making aliyah to Israel. Somehow it really contradicts all those calls for Israelis to move back to Poland and Brooklyn and oh look Sharaa just renovated a synagogue so Syria is good to go back to as well.

  13. MassiveEcho7003 on

Everyone in this comment section taking this as a chance to say anything bad about Israel is incredibly insensitive u can downvote me all u want that’s the truth

  14. Probably paid for by Iran or some other shit munching regime. Asio has previously warned that some countries have been trying to fund terrorist attacks like this to sow as much division as possible in Australia

Globalize intifada + it’s not anti semitism it’s anti Zionism

  16. Islam is simply cancer.

Not all Muslims are bad people, but Islam as an ideology is cancer. It is incompatible with any society that has multiple races, creeds or religions.

Very sad, seems the Jewish community isn’t safe anywhere these days

The usual extremist suspects, either themselves Arab/South Asian immigrants or born in Australia to such, will no doubt find a way to make this about Israel and Gaza, pushing even more of the worldwide Jewish population into Israel’s arms and strengthening their image as the global protector of Jewish people. RIP to the dead.

  19. Aussie here, and here’s what I’ve seen/read so far…

A civilian tackled one of the armed shooters and wrestled the rifle off of him, the shooter then fled back to a bridge where the other shooter was, and began firing from what appears to be a double barrel shotgun.

Multiple weapons used (rifle(s) and shotgun(s))

Reports of at least 10 dead.

One of the shooters is reported to be deceased, while another is in custody.

There is talk that one of the shooters was a “fat white man”, and has been arrested. The “fat white man” was NOT a shooter, but was arrested for stomping on one of the shooters heads.

There are beliefs that this was a TARGETED attack on a Jewish community gathering – yet to be confirmed.

The bridge from which the shooters were firing from connected directly to a children’s playground.

    Updates:
An officer has been shot – unsure as to whether they are alive or not

A civilian is reported (by the ABC) to have been leading children to safety under park benches. Another hero in this whole mess.

The shooters apparently targeted elderly folks who could not escape/run away very well – UNCONFIRMED, but truly heart breaking if true. Will update this later

Stay safe everyone, much love, I hope we don’t lose anymore innocent lives 💔

To anyone who starts their comment with ‘Regardless of what Israel does” or “I hate what the IDF has done, but”, you are part of the problem.

    American core

I hate that as an American, I wasn’t surprised until I saw Australia. All of our global families deserve peace and stability. I feel we’re being conditioned to violence and I am overwhelmingly concerned.

Who in the West voted for our lands to become battlegrounds for grievances rooted in the Middle East?  Muslims, Jews, I don’t care.  Enough

  23. Was bound to happen with how so many people being pro Palestinian and anti Jewish.

  24. Jesus Christ… Protect your contry while you still can. We all know who is behind this and your family will be next

  25. A very sad day. Great work by the legend who disarmed one of the cunts, I hope he never has to pay for another beer in his life

  26. Complete_Item9216 on

Been following this story for about 1-2h or so. Not a single major news outlet mentioned that this was attack on the first day Hanukkah celebration. Nothing about targeting Jewish people either…

  27. Atheist here, we all know the real problem. West don’t have to live this way… This is what happens when you justify terrorism and hate crimes against jewish/western people people.

  28. Who’d have thought that 2 years of anti-Jewish hate marches through major cities every weekend would culminate in a mass shooting on a Jewish holiday. Literally couldn’t have possibly seen it coming. /s
