Hypocrisy at the Hate Mail again.

The Hate Mail’s owner wants EU citizens to leave the UK, so they should be happy, but instead they’re using to sow some further headline stress in the UK.

    2. Swimming_Map2412 on

I thought the DM didn’t like immigrants? Surely they should be happy.

    3. LopsidedLegs on

The Daily Fail fully supported the Tories for 14 years of utter failure and now complain about the environment that they help foster.

      Leopards anyone?

    4. Harambes_Wrath_ on

Poland, land of the competent right wing governments who control immigration, and have low taxes.

With a welfare that helps workers and not the lazy.

    5. Significant_Sale6172 on

Lol, I’m old enough to remember the SCORN the Daily Mail piled on the Poles for coming to the UK.

    6. followerofEnki96 on

A funny spin on Brexit is that it hasn’t even slightly reduced immigration it just shifted the strategy to former imperial subjects outside of Europe! A bit funny though

    7. Obscure-Oracle on

Well it makes perfect sense to go back home, many came here to work during a time where our wages were much higher than Poland’s. Our wages have been stagnant for years now and Poland’s economy is doing well, so it makes sense to go where the money is especially if taxation is much lower. Its a no brainer.

    8. DoItForTheTea on

it’s not because of tax, it’s because of the cost of living. You’re just no longer better off here than there.

    9. I remember when The Mail didn’t like the arrival of so many Polea because it was a bad thing for Britain. Now they are leaving it is now seen as a bad thing. Why do people read this trash?

    10. lieutenant-dan416 on

Dear Daily Mail, they’re leaving because of your anti-EU propaganda that led to Brexit and them not feeling welcome. The „decline“ of this country is largely down to you and your political brethren. Source: I am an immigrant from the EU and many of my peers have left and I detest the Tories and the DM for what they’ve done to this country. I first arrived in 2006 – it felt so different back then

For years this paper ran headlines like *Britain Is Country of Choice for Many ‚Feckless‘ Poles*, *Polish Immigrants Take £1bn out of the UK Economy* and *Fears for NHS & Schools as 1,000 Polish Children Are Born Every Month*.

How anyone could let themselves be lead the nose by this hypocritical and hysterical ‚Newspaper‘?

    12. People always want to return to their home country. This is normal behaviour for economic migrants and nothing to do with the UK.

    13. The DM has been running a constant campaign against migration from EU countries for decades so it seems to me this is more a damning indictment of the Mail.

    14. FlummoxedFlumage on

Far from being an indictment of the UK, isn’t this a clear demonstration of the positive impact of the EU?

Poland has developed significantly since it entered the bloc, its citizens have travelled, worked and contributed to other member’s economies to mutual benefit.

    15. Remember when Leave voters wanted to get all those white Christian Europeans out of England? Well they listened.

If Poland is doing so well now, imagine how much better they’d be if they left the EU. Right? /s

      „We don’t want immigrants!“

      (immigrants leave)

      „No, not like that.“

    17. Cornishchappy on

The Polish economy is booming because of their membership of the EU. The Daily Mail actively promoted Brexit, one of the main causes of the decline of the UK economy.
      The irony is palpable.

    18. banisheduser on

      Wasn’t that their plan?

Come here, earn loads of money, then go back and live a much better life.

    19. Good luck to the Polish, why does their success have to be about your misery? Can we stop doom posting shit from Murdock’s Misery Mail?

      * Employment rates are at near-record highs
      * Borrowing costs are coming down; we are in a rate-cutting cycle, supporting housing activity, business investment and consumer spending
      * Inflation is easing
      * Wages are rising faster than prices in real terms
      * Q1 2025 was the fastest growth in about a year, the UK was the fastest-growing economy in the G7 in H1 2025, and is forecast to be the second fastest-growing only behind the US going forward
      * We achieved a first-of-its-kind deal with the US to avoid Trump tariffs, trade deals with India and the EU, and CPTPP membership
      * AI/tech investment is booming, the UK is the third-largest market for this in the world after the US/China, we recently achieved the £31bn Tech Prosperity Deal with the US, including Microsoft’s largest ever investment outside the US (£22bn)
      * Equity markets are strong
      * Record renewables milestones, particularly with wind, and the government has committed to accepting all the recommendations of the Fingleton Review to make building nuclear significantly cheaper
      * The economic reaction to recent Budgets has been generally positive; markets are beginning to see the UK as stable and positive again

Fucking rich coming from the Mail that loudly cheered the 14 years the Tories took to cause the decline

    21. The Daily Mail – not known for its sense of irony.

      https://share.google/52cHTNnhQ62WVSqy1

“It’s the end of the world the Polish are invading , we must leave the EU which is going to self-destruct anyway….Its the end of the world the Polish are leaving because their country has been so successful (in the EU)”

    22. Poland is a country that has massively benefited from EU subsidies and mass emigration. It’s the poster child for what France and Germany wanted from the EU (a bigger market to trade with on favourable terms) . The whole point was to uplift the country by transferring wealth from the wealthy nations to the poor one. The vast majority of poles who moved to the UK to work were sending significant sums of money back home, that’s literally a zero sum equation where money generated by British companies left the country to go to Poland and that’s on top of massive contributions the government was making to the EU.

Of course poles don’t want to come here now, they can earn comparable wages in Poland and have higher status there. They’ve already been replaced by Bangladeshis and Pakistanis (in far greater numbers) anyway so I’m not sure what the point is?

    23. Cynical_Classicist on

Oh right, so they’re saying that it’s over low-tax. And complaining about migrants leaving. So when white people leave, it’s apparently terrible.

    24. I’m from a region that had massive Polish immigration in the 2000s. The local airports dual lingual signs were Polish with English underneath.

It’s been *absolutely fascinating* watching the talk evolve. We’ve gone from them being feckless benefits scrounging job stealing scum to now wonderful hard working well integrated types with a shared Christian cultural heritage, much nicer than that invasion of Pakistanis who…. Uh… Moved here 50 years ago…

    25. Daily mail – we’re drowning in immigrants, brexit means brexit
Also daily mail – oh no white immigrants are leaving

    26. Illustrious_Dig_2556 on

It’s actually hilarious that it took less than a decade for the British far-right to go from despising Eastern Europeans to basically rimming them.

    27. aReasonableStick on

A lot of Polish people who moved here were not going to stay forever, a lot stuck with shit conditions in the UK so they could raise the money to build a house in Poland. But according to my Polish partner’s Polish friends who still live in Poland, its not all rosey, the government is actively creating propaganda to try and lure Polish people back to Poland. But according to my partners friends everything is going up in price but their wages are not going up to match it, so some of them actively want to leave Poland because they cannot afford to leave their parents home.

    28. Equivalent_Goose_136 on

Is this the same Daily Mail that received a formal complaint in 2008 from the Federation of Poles in Great Britain for defaming Polish residents in the UK through publishing more than 50 front page headlines with anti-Polish bias giving rise to „negative emotions and tensions between the new EU immigrants and local communities“?

    29. StudySpecial on

dear daily mail: the primary reason they are returning is brexit and subsequently being made felt unwelcome in this country – the economic trajectory in poland definitely helps, but they’d still be able to make much more money in the UK, if they actually felt welcome

    30. Remarkable-Ad155 on

But but but but I thought this was meant to be a good thing and mean there were loads of high paying jobs available for British people? Brexit means Brexit and all that?

    31. Legitimate-Leg-4720 on

Why is it an indictment of our decline rather than Poland’s success? Are we supposed to lament when poor countries do well for themselves, for we have lost a source of cheap labour?

    32. trashmemes22 on

It’s so funny being of polish descent watching the perception of polish people and Poland switch in 15 years . In 2010 Polish people were seen as dirty , job stealing plumbers who were taking over British culture and that there were too many of us . Fast forward to now and the same news paper that peddled out xenophobic shite is crying that polish people are leaving and act like Poland is the last bastion of western civilisation because it has strong anti immigration policies .
