Ferriter is a very well learned historian of Irish history but in this case his knowledge is rather superficial. Chamberlain didn’t natively believe Nazi germany would be satiated with Czechoslovakia. He knew he was lying through his teeth saying peace in our time. Chamberlain let what happened to Czechoslovakia, and Poland if we’re going to be honest, happen, to buy time for Britain and France to re arm. Britain was in such a bad state because of his predecessors and the ten year rule, the idea that no war would happen for ten years.

*Zelensky has said he is working on a revised peace proposal that he plans to deliver to the U.S. soon,* [*saying Wednesday*](https://thehill.com/policy/international/5642199-zelensky-trump-peace-plan/) *he held a “productive” conversation on post-war reconstruction and economic development with a U.S. team that included Kushner, Treasury Secretary* [*Scott Bessent* ](https://thehill.com/people/scott-bessent/)*and BlackRock CEO Larry Fink.*

Fink indeed…a brief reference to the real power well above the Trumps and Macrons and certainly miles above the Zelenskys, all of whom are given orders by Fink and his people.

    3. I would not in a million years dignify Donald Trump by comparing him to Neville Chamberlain.

Chamberlain faithfully represented the widespread hope of his constituents that appeasing Hitler would forestall war. While this hope quickly proved to have been in vain, and in retrospect there was likely much that Chamberlain could have done in concert with Deladier if the two governments had agreed to act forcefully in concert against Germany, Chamberlain was hardly alone among world leaders of the time in responding to a widespread, mass popular aversion to another world war if it could possibly, possibly be avoided.

Trump is doing nothing remotely close to that, instead flogging his own nation against its will, and as many others as he can persuade, into the geostrategic orbit of the Kremlin. Trump is far more of an Oswald Mosley or a Kim Philby than a Chamberlain.

And while we can look back and see clearly that Chamberlain’s diplomatic calculus was flawed, from hindsight we can also perceive something else about him, which is that while with one hand he had been publicly making gestures of peace, with the other he had been busily at work guiding the rearmament of Britain. He quietly but cannily made a series of choices about weapons development and industrial planning that, among other things, led directly to the Spitfire and the successful defense of Britain only 20-odd months after the annexation of Czechoslovakia, shocking the fascists with the speed with which Britain had prepared.

In other words, when Churchill led the nation in its defiance of fascism, it was with weapons courtesy of Neville Chamberlain. Who was not so much the errand boy of gangsters as, perhaps, even the gangsters might have believed.

If only Trump had in him even a fraction of what Chamberlain was made of.

    4. French propaganda has brainwashed the entire world into forgetting about their catastrophic actions for some reason.

Europe is the problem not Trump. The coalition of the willing is all talk, talk, talk, millions of airmiles, hundreds of meetings, lots of proposals and very little else. Europe’s leaders (with only three exceptions) are socialist wet wipes with no balls, no forward thinking and kowtow to the unelected EU cabal. They love to visit with the Ukrainian leader – for photo ops and vitue signalling and very little else. This is a war in Europe, not a NATO war yet America is blamed for lack of progress in bringing the war to an end. At least Trump has had a face to face with Putin, name ONE europen leader who has gone to Moscow for talks of any kind. Socialist wetwipes.
