      2 Questions:

      – Is Unemployment differntly measured in theese countries?

      – Second what defines youth? How old are the oldest and how young the youngest?

      How is German employment even stronger than Netherlands? German economy is doing so much worse than the Netherlands for many years now.

      Surprised how low the Italy numbers are, lol. I guess never ending welfare 8 months, working 4 is considered employment these days.

      It’s easy to not have the drive to work when all you can find as a fresh graduate is minimum wage job which is 2500RON + 600RON meal tickets (500EUR + 120EUR). All this in a country with 10% inflation YoY for the past 5 years and some of the most expensive energy bills in EU.

      I genuinely cannot blame the youth for not wanting to work for a wage that cannot even buy you the basic rent, utilities and food.

      I swear somebody forgot which flag is Austrian and which one is Latvian and just decided to give them the same percentage so it doesn’t matter.

      Youth unemployment in Europe isn’t actually “terrible” by historical standards. It was far worse after the 2008 crash and the eurozone crisis, peaking around 25% in 2013!!.

      It’s nearer 15 percent now .

      So not all doom and gloom !

      I don’t understand how countries around 20%+ youth unemployment aren’t burning.

      Like, are these all hikikomoris who just shut in in their rooms to play Fortnite without any ambitions? I’d be furious if I was still that age and could neither get university education nor a job.

      In Romania this is not only an economic problem but is also a failure of the education system and a problem of migration.

      We are in the situation where the last generations of people trained during the communism or shortly after are still working. These are the people that keep the lights on, technicians, etc. Younger generations, are just not prepared. There isn’t a training program for apprentices like in Germany. The technical schools have been almost all closed. I’m working in a factory and basically all good electrical or mechanical technicians are a few years away from retirement with no perspective to find younger people to replace them.

      As for migration, out of 20 something teens in my daughter’s class in school, only about 5 have families with both parents. Some are raised by grandparents. One is raised by his godmother ffs. These kids don’t perform in school.

      romania counts youth as if it exists because it helps with keeping corrupt funds directed towards the main parties, which are distributed proportionally according to assumed population. However except for exactly two cities, Romania doesnt have youth, most of it is gone towards west by the time they are 16-18.

      I will never understand why people from countries with the highest unemployment rates do not immigrate to Germany or the Netherlands in large numbers, even though Germany has a massive labor shortage.

      We dont need Immigrants from the third world if we have enough people here who are not working

      It’s crazy how countries just allow young people to waste away as NEETs, then complain that young people are out of touch with reality.

      What defines youth? 14 year olds? Youth still going to high school?

      Hard to judge whether those numbers are low or high now.

      Well, damn, but at least we have the fastest rising homelessness among full time employed people (including and especially the youth) 🇳🇱🇳🇱💪🏻💪🏻

      I can never take these seriously since ILO interpretation differs from country to country. For instance a student that is surveyed and responds with ”I want to work part time but have not searched for any jobs lately” will end up as unemployed in Swedens statistics but in Denmark the same person would be ”inactive”

      Eu really need to enforce the standard in interpreting as well
