Indeed, it is time! The word Union in EU should finally mean more! Too mcuh dependance on the US…..
One day they will just abandont EU, if they will see the advantage in it…if they havent dont it already….

Well, we certainly can’t depend on ourselves, either. For one thing, „ourselves“ includes Orbán. How can we honestly say „Trump’s reelection is proof that the US voting public can’t be relied upon“ but not see that the Hungarian voting public don’t see themselves as sharing EU interests beyond whatever money they can extract? How realistically can the EU plan for a self-sufficient defence without the US, while we have Orbán sabotaging us from the inside?
Nah, we just need to take our money out of the US market and support European listed companies. US stocks are anyway completely disconnected from reality and at least EU companies are fairly priced.
People need to put their money where their mouth is.

A declaration would make Putin so happy. EU should wait and see if the US can kick out Trump, or at least until the midterms. A Democrat majority in the House will do a lot to hamstring Trump.

Even after Trump is gone, it’s clear that half of the US wants the EU to be destroyed and the individual countries to become far-right dictatorships. We can’t depend on a country that will flip-flop between ally and enemy every four years.

Putin reaching his end game pretty soon. Take over the US woth high placed assets, annex the parts of Ukraine he wants and then drive a political wedge through NATO.
BRIC countries winning without shooting a shot is crazy. And people are STILL falling for it – far right parties polling well because Russia and China are funding crime gangs to send waves of human traffic to the west.
Trump says Europe will be changed in 20 years. He has managed to make the USA unrecognizable to its friends in 12 months. Knowing for some time that America is no longer the friend and ally of Europe we must pivot away from the USA. it will take time but there is no going back.
I think it is actually good time for this. Because or we do this or they will dissolve us and then we’re basically doomed
I absolutely agree that European leaders need to do more to protect its 400 million people. I have said it many times before, we have been sleeping under the umbrella of NATO thinking we have the US as allies. Yes we have contributed massively to helping the US become the stand alone military force of the world with allowing them to have bases everywhere and without European business, the US Industry for defence would not be able to operate on the budget it currently has.
Our European leaders are playing catchup big time. We need to develop our own sovereign military hardware and software…..AND FAST!
We stood by America for 20 years in Afghanistan but after 4 years America have walked out on helping us in our hour of need.
