      >Oregon’s U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley released the following statement after Senate Republicans blocked consideration of his Prohibiting Unauthorized Military Action in Venezuela Act of 2025, which would block federal funds from being used for military actions in Venezuela:

      >>“As the Constitution so clearly says, Congress has the power to declare war—not the President. We must not stand by while Donald Trump prepares to wage war without authorization. Yet, Senate Republicans once again chose to rubber-stamp Trump’s agenda, trampling our Constitution in the process.

      >>“Certainly, Nicolás Maduro is a brutal dictator, but that does not give Trump a blank check for launching a war. Congress must reassert its constitutional responsibility. I’ll keep fighting for this body to exercise its authority over the decision to go to war, regardless of who is in the White House.”

      >On Wednesday, Merkley took to the Senate Floor in an attempt to pass his Prohibiting Unauthorized Military Action in Venezuela Act of 2025, legislation he leads with Virginia’s U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, that would prohibit the use of federal funds for any use of military force in or against Venezuela without explicit Congressional authorization. Merkley’s bill does not prevent the United States from acting to defend itself or its citizens from an armed attack or threat of an imminent armed attack, pursue lawful counternarcotics operations, or provide humanitarian assistance to the Venezuelan people.

      >The Prohibiting Unauthorized Military Action in Venezuela Act of 2025 is also co-sponsored by Senators Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Angela Alsobrooks (D-MD), Peter Welch (D-VT), Edward J. Markey (D-MA), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and Andy Kim (D-NJ).

    2. >But Machado’s peace prize has been highly contentious. She dedicated it to President Trump, who has amassed U.S. warships in the Caribbean, killing at least 87 people in boats in strikes that critics say amount to war crimes. Officials in the Trump administration privately say [their ultimate goal is to bring about regime change](https://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/04/us/politics/trump-weighs-attacks-venezuela.html) in Venezuela. Machado has expressed support for using force to oust Maduro.

Machado is going to give a speech tomorrow in Oslo about the peace prize. She is going to say how Maduro is a bad bad man, and that she needs daddy Trump to save her.

      We are screwed.

Never should have given shitgoblin the soccer/peace ribbon. Now that he has the prize he’s not going to deliver on the promise. That’s his business model.

    4. Republicans want to own a war on top of a fucked up economy and the image of protecting rich pedophiles.

    5. America can be America as long as we want. We just need to remove the maga trash and see it through

So, now Congress is actually united in refusing to recognize the Constitution.

It’s a paradox because if you swear an oath to the Constitution then you must rebel against Congress… But Congress has force of the paramilitary to defend itself.

We are in a might-makes-right fascism where no action supported by the Constitution will be legal and anything that thwarts the Constitution dominates by use of weapons and prisons.

The only way to break this doom spiral is to sabotage every federal court case against insurgents with a runaway jury.

Never indict during a grand jury and always acquit at trial.

    7. Trump and his supporters want any grandmother over the age of 72 to be deported to Venezeula

Republicans, once again, want to send your kids and grandkids to war. For oil.

Trump is a megalomaniac and should be impeached unfortunately the Republicans are afraid to confront him they will probably resign in masses next year

    12. Why can’t a backbencher of the minority party dictate policy?

This whole majority rules thing is horrible.

Let’s rise up and take charge of the Americans people.

    13. Trump doesn’t do anything without lining his pocket. I predict Trump golf courses in Palestine and in Venezuela.

    14. Of course they did because the Republicans are okay with having a dictator President that wants to invade random countries
