I’m transgender. My parents voted for this mother fucker twice. Needless to say, I don’t talk to them anymore but I do believe that in their hearts they believe I’m a victim of the ‘democrat woke mind virus’. They’ve certainly never taken the time or interest to listen to my takes on trans issues. Everything Trump says is truth not worth questioning to them, naturally. MAGA has brain rotted so many family members. It should be a crime.

Reaching people through kindness and imagined common ground has failed. Shame them. Mock them. Make them understand that they are immoral people.
I have a trans adult daughter. She struggled socially and emotionally throughout her teens, still managed to develop into a fairly extraordinary young adult – and then in an early twenties figured out what was wrong in her life and transitioned. She is enormously happier and more contented now.
It’s scary, I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, there’s no fucking way I would push anyone in my family to be trans even if that were possible. I’m enormously grateful that she can be her authentic self, I’m grateful she lives in a city that’s probably as easy for her as anywhere would be, even though it ain’t great here. And these fuckers that put her in the crosshairs as a political target, literally putting her life and future at risk, fucking enrage me.
