    1. Let he who has never deployed a cronjob to restart that service with the memory leak no-one can find cast the first stone…

See this is why I still use discord in chrome. Its contained.

    3. Been saying this. The last couple years, I noticed my laptop fans ramping up if I had Discord focused on Windows. Even just a single message or gif would sound like a jet was starting up.
I went to Discord because it was such a lightweight app and it was (still is) a clever idea, but now it is bloated and unoptimized.

This platform is bloated af, I have a 4090 and I was getting almost 50% FPS drops in games and had to turn off hardware acceleration, isn’t it supposed to be for gamers?

    5. They need to run an AI agent on the whole codebase looking for places where garbage collection isn’t happening. I don’t think we are quite there yet with AI. All you need is enough context window to tell it to scan every file in the app.

    6. Wow, I’ve noticed certain freezes while using discord, it’s eating my ram apparently?

Discord is just an Electron app tho.

I ended up creating my own client after I got fed up with the built-in spyware. I really don’t like how you can’t turn off the „games you’re playing / music you’re listening to“ nonsense. It always gets uploaded to Discord, even if you choose not to share it. Pretty ridiculous imo.

Sorry you guys. It was Friday and I didn’t know how to fix it properly.

Jeez, I wrote software in the dark ages in test automation and no way my code would get to production like that.

… of course, we had 640k including network to futz around in. And ran boundschecker first.

Does this still happen if you use Discord as a PWA on Windows 11? I noticed the force restarting on the windows app and was gonna test this later.
