Setting aside the obscene cost of this visit, it’s pretty embarrassing we can’t event transport our PM safely around the world without paying through the nose to a private company to do it for us because we’re incapable of getting our act together.
Canada can’t even supply the prime minister a plane? That’s like the first thing any self-respecting country buys. There are wartorn African countries with presidential planes and professional livery. Embarrassing.
This reminds me of the stories about 24 Sussex Drive. Instead of spending the money to do something right the first time, we cut corners and it actually costs us more in the long run. Just get a proper plane for our PM.
Can I just share my enjoyment that the picture selected to go with this article is delightful? It also has little to do with the meat of the story. I get the feeling some photo editor was really just dying to use it.
3/4 of a million to fly Carneau to Egypt? No government plane available, he should have just sat this one out.
