I disagree with his views on the Century Initiative, but holy crap does he have a stacked resume.
Considering this role has nothing to do with immigration, I can support this.

It’s over, Canada is about to be gutted for spare parts and wouldn’t be surprised if dairy management is first of many sacred cows including healthcare to be privatized soon given what’s going on in conservative provinces

Unfortunately I think they are seeing that we are going to need a man in that role to deal with the current USA administration. It shouldn’t matter but a woman isn’t going to get the respect and serious discourse from then in negotiations that we absolutely need right now.
When dealing with the democrats it’s not an issue but with the Trump republicans it absolutely is. Chrystia Freeland caused a lot of problems in negotiations between us and them as they did not like dealing with her one bit.
