It’s a motion. What the hell is the point? This feels a lot more like the spider who didn’t catch the fly. „Oh wait, you didn’t fall into my web. Here, let me custom build one more to your choosing.“
I get the strategy here, that Poilievre wanted the Liberals to shambolically fall into the cleverly hidden pit trap he had prepared for them. But at this juncture, having refused to even approach the trap, it begins to feel like he’s going to fall into the trap himself.
Liberals: “In the effort to allow the relevant parties included in the MOU to actually fucking negotiate, choosing to get out of the way, we do not feel it is appropriate to vote undercutting the relevant parties positions.
We welcome another motion put forward when there actually has been consensus made”
Easy way out of these political shenanigans
Why are American tankers allowed on the same coast while the oil tanker ban applies to Canadian projects? I’ve always wondered about that.
If we want an oil tanker ban in place; shouldn’t it apply equally to everyone including American oil tankers coming from Alaska?
Now that this has been amended to include the full language and spirit of the MOU, I’m looking forward to seeing how Liberals vote.
This whole thing was designed to turn into fundraising fodder. Poillievre just wants to polarize people and drive division. That is how he sees himself getting to power, just like the Republicans who he emulates.
Well this is much to do about nothing.
The pipeline is nothing more than Alberta’s pipe dream, and won’t happen. Why does anyone care about the motion, or if Carney would hypothetically approve it? Its like asking if he would approve of an Alberta space program, if a private proponent willing to pay 35 billion dollars for an Alberta space program were to come forward.
Man it sure is a good thing Carney crafted that IOU so that we wouldn’t have messes like this one.
He’s a real maverick, that Carney, working the magic of diplomacy through solid economic policy.
That Harvard degree has single handedly brought us:
A US trade deal.
A completed pipeline.
All of the affordable housing we’ll ever need.
The best grocery prices ever.
Thank goodness for that Carney.
