>“You also need partners in the world, and one of those partners can be Europe. And if you can’t do anything with Europe, then at least make Germany your partner,” Merz said during his inaugural visit to Rhineland-Palatinate.
I nearly lost my mind. I defended this guy until now but this is unacceptable. He throws Europe under the bus without any real pressure whatsoever just days after the US document has been announced. Absolutey insane
It seems there is complete unity in Washington, and the „EU – Fourth Reich“ poster reflects the shared opinion of Trump and his team — not simply Musk’s anger over the imposed fine.
Some can’t help their abusive relationship kink.
sounds like a heck of an opportunity for Europe, to me… of course, I know nothing…
but work with me here: suppose France and Germany together could agree on terms to become one people. Directed by one parliament. There’d have to be votes for regions and votes for peoples, who knows, sounds like a good idea from a great distance.
But if they could get it done: they’d be a monster. They’d be unstoppable. They could gradually offer those same terms to selected other countries to join up, and who knows, maybe build a real Europe. With real unity and real power. They’d never have to mention shared values to US diplomatic representatives again. Draghi’s report would be all taken care of, and you all could move on and do great things. Right? Huh?
Strangely enough, you feel that the French were right all along.
Will we ever stop sucking US dick?
Ukraine had and still has very little, yet it withstood the Russian hordes with minimal support. It’s now withstanding the pressure from the mighty US, a Russian ally.
Europe has so much more now + a great potential, yet we’re gridlocked in perpetual bureaucratic pursuit unable to address pressing issues such as seizing Russian assets and kicking out obvious Russian puppet states out of the EU.
So the only „strategy“ we seem to have any hopes for is to keep begging our enemies for mercy and friendship in exchange for our sovereignty and freedoms.
Are we *that* weak really?
Trump declared europe an an enemy, made sure Us Military strategie is to guarantee European Union not expanding (official documents). And he’s entirely following Russian suggestions. It’s not partly unacceptable, its entirely unacceptable you fuking weak fool
Polite term for ‚full of shit‘.
The French were fucking right about America, cant be trusted at all.
We are so fucking sorry our european friends! We dont want him as chancelor, but we cant change it.
Love u ❤️🇩🇪💀🇪🇺💔
Merz acts like it’s a kind of debate and he has voice here.
No, he was informed about the decision made.
I don’t think he’s throwing europe under the bus here like other comments suggest, he probably realized that it’s very very very easy to change Trumps mind in person and he’s setting himself up for an invitation
I’d say it’s time the EU introduce America’s Monroe to de Gaulle.
„In my talks with the Americans, I say: ‚America first is fine,‘ but ‚America alone‘ cannot be in your interest.“ His message to the US was rather: „You also need partners in the world, and one of those partners can be Europe. And if you can’t do anything with Europe, then at least make Germany your partner,“
ROFL. How is this guy allowed to be a chancellor?
And yet he still will try to curry favor and suck up to Caligula. Best thing for Europe is to form their own coalition and let the US go its own way until 2029. European leaders are playing up to Trump and he doesn’t respect that. It’s only when you tell him off, he’ll be impressed.
For those wondering why Europe may be doing this, I think it’s interesting to look at the Prisoner’s dilemma game. I’ll take this from my game theory class I’m in right now.
There are two players. The other player you encounter can be described as „bully 2“. This player will defect and then cooperate on alternating plays (defect, cooperate, defect, cooperate). He will only do this if you continue to cooperate unconditionally in all rounds, and if you defect once, he will then defect unconditionally in all future rounds.
If you accept the bully’s proposition and cooperate unconditionally, then the payoffs every round will be 0 for you and 5 for him when he defects, and 3 and 3 for both of you when he cooperates. This would give you an average payoff of 1.5, and him an average payoff of 4.
If you defected against him once, however, he will defect in all future instances. Since defect is the only rational response to a defection (because cooperating when another defect gives you a payoff of 0 and him a payoff of 5), you and him will be locked into a payoff of 1 for both of you forever.
Therefore, taking the bully’s proposition and getting an average payoff of 1.5 is better than defecting and getting an average payoff of 1. The only logical response to bully 2 under the conditions of this game is unconditional cooperation.
CDU: Do we like the new US security strategy?
No!
also CDU: what are we prepared to do to have an alternative to what the US has for us?
Nothing!
He might even send them a strongly worded letter.
