The manufacturer of An-22, the world’s largest turboprop aircraft is Antonov, based in Ukraine, not Russia. And the An-22 was built in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. But since it’s not produced anymore, they have to salvage parts from other airframes.
Without logistical support, it is extremely difficult for them to maintain this plane. They were planning to retire it starting last year in 2024.
