    1. I’ve said this from the beginning. Instead of banning all housing investors from any real estate, we should only be banning foreign investors from existing real estate stock.

The implication being that if they want to come in and own Canadian real estate, they have to come in, finance, and build it themselves. If they finance and build a Condo or Apartment then I have no problems with them owning it. Hell, we can even roll out the red carpet for them too.

But once it’s built their only options for selling it will be to either trade it amungst themselves, or operate it as a business. And once the building is older than 5-10 years, it’s banned from being sold to investors to encourage them to constantly build new things.

    2. Kind of amazing how the reason why projects aren’t profitable is because of terrible municipal and provincial regulations, but those actors have decided they’re not going to do anything at all, so now the federal government has to do tax expenditure and throw money at developers to make up the difference.

      Pathetic stuff.

Jesus fucking Christ, THE GOVERNMENT BUILDS HOUSES. That’s the fix, we need khrushchevkas we just flat out give to people for cheap to bring this crap under control. Private investors aren’t going to build cheap houses, they want MONEY, and the people with all the money to buy houses the investors are gonna build are other investors! Why? To hold onto as an investment that grows in wealth or rent out, so young’uns are either unable to buy a house or spend half their pay check paying off someone elses building.

Housing sucks in too much money as is. The last thing we need is it sucking in more which could go to actual productive assets and industries.
