    1. it doesn’t matter what the liberals do now, they are just writing an ad for their next eleciton.

if they voter no, in the next election the conservatives will just say the Liberals voted agaisnt pipelines and they are hoping, probably correctly, there will still be no pipeline project and or the headlines will be controversies and FN opposition to a potential pipeline at the time.

      it’s all theatre

    2. This is actually hilarious. I did not expect this outcome from this motion.

So this motion won’t pass because neither the bloc, nor the NDP, nor the greens will support it. The libs are straight up voting against it as a whole. Which means it’s not even remotely doing what PP wants. Damn PP is playing checkers while Carney is playing chess.

    3. CDN-Social-Democrat on

Last night I read the twitter release from PP and I have heard some of the other info/rumors associated with what the CPC will introduce for a vote tomorrow and also what was all being discussed.

It’s a great example of how you give an inch with these folks and they want to take a mile.

Instead of the most divisive and alienating project possible to the west coast we could have talked about countless optimization projects.

But that doesn’t rile up a base of „Us vs Them“ dynamics. A mob created out of pumping lowest common denominator type outrage echo chamber dialogue without understanding or appreciating any of the nuances involved in actual society.

Now that being stated let’s get into some numbers.

In 1990 as a nation we did around 1.7 MILLION barrels every single day.

In 2014 that was around 3.8 MILLION barrels every single day.

Now that sits around 4.6 to 5.8 MILLION barrels every single day.

You’d think with that increase over time the jobs would massively be pumping. Well nope… In fact we have thousands of less jobs in this space.

There is just so much misinformation being pumped it isn’t even funny.

We also in this agreement had talk around carbon capture and storage and „decarbonized oil“. All of which are buzz words pumped to an almost if not entirely Greenwashing extent.

Now we have the taking a mile from an inch crowd saying these greenwashing realities are even too much and make the product not cost competitive enough.

All in all this is what happens when bad actors are invited to the party. You get more in the bullshit by the day.

    4. Seems like the inevitable decision, the Liberals want to avoid caucus divisions and a split vote here would send a mixed signal. Rather sloppy politics on the Conservative’s part by editing the wording of the MOU since it gives the Liberals an easy out.

But ultimately this is a meaningless motion in the house, and 90% of people are not paying attention.

    5. Well that kind of settles whether or not this whole thing from Carney about pipelines was real or just political theatre. I doubt they ever had any intention of pursuing a pipeline project. I was actually on team Carney for a short while there.
