Tokyo is more liveable in just about every way than London.
The only areas London wins in are cultural diversity, history, pubs, cycle lanes, green space, and theatre scene.
Tokyo wins in affordability, safety, public services, medical services, cleanliness, transport system, restaurant scene, housing quality.
Weather we can call a draw because of the Tokyo summer.
Never lived in Paris but I hear it’s grim outside the picturesque centre.

After two weeks in Japan, I completely understand why it’s ranked so high. Everything is so clean, and there’s a sense of care, precision, and pride in even the smallest details. Everything you want is here, and at such reasonable cost. It’s amazing not having to think about tipping and knowing that workers are compensated well enough to live really comfortably. Japan truly is a fantastic place. I will be back!

Having lived in NYC for over 40 years I cannot imagine one reason why or how it ranked 2nd and over Tokyo!
That’s just crazy.

Shanghai/Shenzhen are easily better than all. You ignorant weeaboos haven’t see Asia if you think what you know is the best version that it can offer.

Tokyo is amazing, but it just doesn’t have that big, monumental wow-factor you get in Western Europe or the US. It’s massive, yet it feels lacking in iconic places. And living here, especially the housing situation, is tough for Westerners who are used to more space and comfort.

I live in Tokyo, lived for *decades* in London, Paris and pre pandemic used to travel to NY yearly. family and friends all over these cities and i can say with absolute certitude that this list is buuuuuullshit.
Tokyo beats all these cities hands down. sure summer weather is bad but really? just dress appropriately ffs, carry a towel, its fine.
