These polls that somehow pull a majority in favor of military service are confusing. If there’s a majority positive view on this topic, then why don’t those people enlist?

I think Poland’s best defense is Ukraine putting up the strongest possible resistance.
So, the simplest approach is to encourage the Ukrainians in Poland to return home and fight there—especially since there are nearly a million of them in the country.
Perhaps they could even be offered financial incentives to do so.
Oh yeah, cant wait to get in the trenches to defend a country where I own basically nothing. Never felt at home here for 30 bloody years.
Meanwhile wealthy people are already set up with backup plans in Spain, Italy or wherever. They will disappear as soon as conflict will be obvious and come back once the poor defended their assets. To „rebuild the country“ i.e. make a boatload of money for showing up.

Just saying that this „majority” that we are talking about is made out of womens and old people all of younger mens (group that would be effected by that) is 100% against that personally as a young men i find it unfair and every women that support this idea should also he forced to waste her youth on a mandatory military training (oldies can also be useful somehow)
Armed conflict between Poland and Germany seems inevitable.
They should introduce compulsory military service for women, and get that poll again. Its so easy to manage your words, when your life is not on stake.

Also, its certain that NATO wants Poland to be the new sacrifice in its fight against Russia. Hopefully polish leadership can see through that and avoid it.
No, Europe… We will not shed our blood for you unless you come and fight with us in one line! It’s easy to talk about someone when you’re hundreds, thousands of kilometers away from Russia…

For me, it entirely depends on the government at the time. I can stomach most combinations, except PiS + Konfederacja ruling the country. I won’t die for a coalition of Orban populists and Far-Right Russian shills. Anything else I would be willing to fight for.

Good for Poland and for Europe. People must realise that what we have in Europe is not to be taken for granted. And on order to avoid war we must prepared to fight one. It’s even more true for countries with countries who must live next to Russia so that we never end up in a situation that Ukraine finds itself.
If young men in the Nordic and Baltics can go through military service, I’m sure Polish men will do just as good. And women too if you decide to go that route.
