According to the government it won’t be a referendum to join, but a referendum to start a dialogue and see what terms it would be. Very different.

We are incompatible with EU in three primary sectors that I know of:
* Energy: Iceland has a self sufficient green energy grid. EU regulation demands that Iceland starts having for example a crude oil reserve…
* Fishing: Iceland owns an insanely profitable and lucrative fishing rights which is roughly 1/3 of all export profits, which is VERY important for a country that needs to import almost everything.
These fishing rights would be handed to EU
* Agriculture: Without protective tolls the agriculture in Iceland would be wiped out overnight.
EU has shown 0 interest in budging on these topics, and we have been shown very few benefits except changing currencies (which we can do anyways if we wanted)
So I am genuinely confused why anyone should be interested
