They should offer a counter-project cause shrugging legitimate concerns away will only leads to more appeal to this kind of projects.

I’m getting mighty tired of having to vote on whether to commit economical suicide for symbolic anti-immigration laws.
If you want to be poor and ethnically pure so bad, just blow up the road to your village. No one will want to migrate to you if you are poor. You don’t need to do it to the entire country.

Out of pure curiosity – what is the end goal if we don’t cap immigration at some point? Switzerland simply doesn’t have the space or infrastructure to endlessly grow. I understand the economic concerns, but there must be better ways of stabilizing the economy than just bringing more people in, right?

That initiative would be as bad for Switzerland as Brexit has been for UK. If that gets voted I think they will achieve their objective simply by making Switzerland less attractive for future immigrants, and probably many staying here now will consider moving abroad. I know I will

What I don’t get is why this regulation cannot be on the cantonal level especially since residency quotas and decisions already are. All the arguments about infrastructure, housing, and environment overload seem to be highly location-specific and so can be easily controlled by the cantons. Especially since there are some cantons that would want more population.

If the Federal Council wants this initiative to lose, they will have to freeze or even lower the cost of living – by any means necessary. I don’t care about what the Hauseigentümerverband thinks. The increase in apartment rents in the last 20 years is mostly due to immigration.

This sub will simultaneously complain about the lack of jobs then defend high EU immigration.
These initiatives and ideas will be supported so long as Swiss probe struggle to find work on their field whilst watching wealthy foreigners pick up the high paying jobs and push up house prices.
0 immigration isn’t great, but uncontrolled is equally as bad.
