I mean, even if I feel like Netflix has been playing second fiddle for a few years now, they are the big bad that started this whole streaming industry. If Hollywood needs anyone to hate for the utter destructive bullshit that has brought to the town, it’s gonna be them.

That begs the question: if everyone in Hollywood hates Netflix, is that a good thing for a bad thing?

I think Netflix is probably better than Paramount/Ellison. If we are fortunate, in a few years there will be actual anti-trust lawyers in the DOJ who can start disassembling the way, way, too many corporate monopolies.

It’s funny everyone complains about how fragmented the streaming world is, you need $150/month to stream a decently full content library. And they **miss** the days Netflix was an underdog and companies sold them rights for everything without thinking twice
And for anyone thinking there will be increases because of the merger. There have been price increases for all streaming services without any mergers for the past 15 years.
Netflix used to be $7.99 with no ads. No mergers or breakups needed to increase that price to $24.99
If you want to stop price increases pass a law making them illegal. This has nothing to do with approving the merger or not
So here we are, a chance to de-fragment the streaming world and everyone complains about a monopoly. Well then I look forward to the future of no monopolies and 30 streaming services

AOL buys Warner Brothers: silence
Warner Brothers destroys Cartoon Network, scraps finished movies, erases thousands of shows from digital libraries: silence
Hollywood globe hops looking for the best tax incentives and corporate kickbacks effectively killing the LA industry: nothing
Theaters outside about three Major areas haven’t been updated in 20+ years and tickets are still 3x inflation: monks vow of silence
The average box office return on a film since at least 2010 has been 15 million dollars and studios cannot stop churning out 150 million dollar pictures that pull in 40-60 million domestically: silence of the void
Netflix buys Warner Brothers: FIVE ALARM FIRE! DEATH OF ALL HOLLYWOOD, DOOM THE LIKES OF WHICH WE NEVER SAW COMING! THE HORROR!
Give me a fucking break.

Say what you will about Neflix, but Hollywood have been too slow to adapt. The writing was on the wall 20 years ago. These studios shunned online streaming, until it didn’t go away. Instead of innovating, they kept a reliance on physical theatres and trying to gatekeep cinema. And they still can’t figure out how to stop being greedy and complain about it, while playing catchup to Netflix.
The whole accounting, royalties and ownership is due for a change.
