Awards like this dilute real peace work. Real change doesn’t com e from photo ops with football federations.

I caught up on this listening to the BBC Americast podcast and I have to say that everyone should boycott every FIFA game in the USA and go to the ones in Canada and Mexico instead.

We now expect it from the fascist that was voted in, but shameless grift on behalf of the FIFA President.

    3. >Infantino said the award, established this year, “is presented annually on behalf of the billions of football loving people from around the world…

I have never been happier to not love football/soccer.

Has real „if my grandmother had wheels she would have been a bicycle“ vibes

    5. I had to switch away, because I felt second hand embarrassment of the highest magnitude.

And I never felt that before in regards to anything Trump ever did.
Redrawing hurricane Maps with Sharpies, throwing paper towels towards hurricane victims, not knowing his favorite bible quote, hugging the flag like it is only 14 years old, air-handjobs, stumbling while exiting AF1 or proclaiming that people should get sunlight injected to battle covid? Those were eye rolling situations.

This right here was something every Trump voter should feel embarrassed about.

    6. Why is FIFA giving out Peace Prizes anyway, it’s a sports organisation (and a corrupt one at that)

Betting that Infantino thought this BS prize would forestall ICE targeting World Cup fans… which is pretty damn naive for anyone watching this administration.

This was more demeaning than having 34 felony counts on your record somehow…

    9. No, we should keep doing this every day. Give him a shiny new toy and let him on stage to ramble. He said nice things about Canada and Mexico and then he went to bed. I’m fine with him doing that all the time instead of trying to govern.

    10. I honestly don’t know which is worse here. FIFA for coming up with this nonsense or Trump, who is so infantile that he accepts it.

    11. How long before he claims this one is more prestigious than the Nobel Peace Prize?

I see all corporations awarding Trump their own version of a peace prize to gain favor from the imbecile.

    13. It’s internationally known that he’s still mentally a toddler, a pathological liar, a rapist, a pedophile, a grifter, a massive loser who couldn’t even make a casino profitable, he wanted to have sex with his own daughter etc.

Once he dies the location of his grave will have to be kept secret because otherwise the sheer amount of piss that will soak into the earth around his coffin will cause the whole area to become a biological hazard. (Which his decaying body will likely do on its own as well.)

    14. As laughable as this whole thing is, it’s a problem that big players like the European football league is supporting Trump even if just symbolically.

    15. Most-Artichoke6184 on

Trump is the only one who does not understand how embarrassing that entire ceremony was.

    16. This needs to become a thing; publicly giving him increasingly obviously fake awards untilhis handlers step in 😁😀😂🤡

    17. Perhaps FIFA realizes that ICE will be arresting large amounts of tourists who mistakenly come to the World Cup thinking they’re safe since they’re tourists, so perhaps giving Donnie his participation award now, they can use that leverage during the cup to have ICE stood down whilst it’s on.

    18. costellotalking on

I know nothing about FIFA. As I was skimming the article I thought the word Infantino was used to describe Trump as a little baby.

    19. He needed a participation award. It is so hard to keep patting yourself on the back when no one likes you.

    20. Does anybody know any MAGAs who are soccer fans? But ask them about „Football“; and their like, yeah man, I’m in! Morons don’t know the difference b/t (world) soccer and (american) football.
