      I’m Swedish, and I was a paying customer of Spotify since the inception, 15+ years. I stopped paying about a year ago, and found out that the free version was good enough. Some adverts, but not too intrusive (for me anyway).

      If Daniel Ek wants to turn Spotify into SpotifAI, then that’s up to him. I understand if both artists and subscribers are leaving. Personally I just bought my first CD some weeks ago again, for the first time in more than ten years. I don’t plan to buy more as of yet, but since it wasn’t available on Spotify I did buy it, and the fewer artists sticking around, I’m sure that at least more of the older subscribers will follow suit and return to buying CD:s/Vinyls, or alternatively pirating.

      I’m sure both artists and users can find other ways besides Spotify to meet.

      His investment in German AI that **helps** Ukraine defend itself is a positive step.

      All these so-called pacifists don’t understand that sometimes you can’t just let a rapist do what he wants in order to avoid ‘conflict’. Silent suffering and silence are not the answer. Yes, we must have strong armies.

      These musicians are hypocrites because they have their music on the Yandex platform, which is controlled by the Kremlin.

      * As I understand it, they give artists too small a percentage of the earnings.
      * They allow Joe Rogan to freely spread misinformation.

      Spotify is just a greedy company. Nothing special. Although the fact that they pay Joe Rogan puts me off

      I don’t know what Spotify is like these days but when I stopped using it more than ten years ago it certainly was a „garbage hole“… Daniel Ek is a PoS, not paying musicians fairly and flooding the platform with AI-generated music are perhaps his worst crimes.

      Investing in the defence sector? Not necessarily a bad thing if you ask me. And this sub generally celebrates the successes of European defence companies.

      Spotify has been shitty/shady for some time. Artists seem to mostly be virtue signaling but have probably also had it with Spotify.

      Overall i see this as a good thing, the platform has stopped truly serving it’s artists and users

      Helsing is providing modern drones to Ukraine to fight off the Russian invasion. And they’re a wholly European-owned defense startup – allowing Europe to reduce its reliance on imported tech. Shouldn’t these artists be supporting this wholeheartedly?
