How common is it? I’m from Argentina and have partial German ancestry. I’d say it depends on where you live.
I’d say in southern Brazil, and in Misiones and Entre Ríos, Argentina are the only places where it’s „fairly common.“
My German ancestors migrated to southern Paraguay, near Misiones, Arg. A couple of generations later I’m Argentinian, and here I’d say there are more german-argentinians precisely in Misiones and Entre Ríos.
Italians in Argentina are completely common; it hardly stands out.
