It’s not even shocking anymore.

I can’t imagine there is much opportunity to take rest breaks, given that the majority seem to be lone workers, at least at night.

I wouldn’t be surprised if their breaks kept getting interrupted and staff didn’t mind as long as they were being paid. But by making their breaks unpaid, the knock-on effect is that employees are, understandably, less forgiving, and it ends up costing more to ensure adequate cover or to close the premises during lunch.

Even if the „scrap“ bank holidays for forecourt staff. The staff will still legally have to receive that time of but now they can choose when to use those days.

Why??

Evil for evil’s sake.

They’re quietly cutting all the staff at the BP M&S sites. They’ve brought in self-checkouts at some sites and are going to remove most of the Wild Bean cafe staff and replace them with customer operated coffee vending machines.

Spoken to loads of staff on my night shift when I stop by and they always say they’re understaffed as it is. They’re being treated terribly.
