      From the article:

The Trump administration has dropped Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth from the fee-free days at National Parks for 2026.

The Department of the Interior (DOI) recently announced its „resident-only patriotic fee-free days“ for 2026, and missing from the list were MLK Day, which has been a National Park fee-free day since 2018, and Juneteenth, which was introduced as a fee-free day in 2024.

In place of these days commemorating American history, civil rights and equality, the Trump administration has instead opted to celebrate additional former presidents‘ birthdays and Flag Day, which is also President Donald Trump’s birthday.

These are the things that happen when Trump’s base starts faltering in support–Trump creates race-based content to appeal to racists.

Do a lot of these parks have fees? My wife and I have started visiting all the state and national parks in our area and plan to expand that. We have yet to pay any fees, expect 1 which had a parking restriction.

When we visited DC a few years back all the monuments and stuff are technically national parks right? They were all free as well.

Tell me you hate black people without saying you hate black people.

That’s a bold move. I wonder how many quadrillions will be claimed that ‚we earned‘ by specifically removing these two fee-free days. Definitely just a coincidence on the choice of these fee-free days too, I am sure. /s

The „C“ word doesn’t begin to describe the pettiness of these people.

They aren’t even trying to badly hide it anymore. „Yes, we are racist. Fuck you.“

And yet every Republican I know that my mom will insist isn’t actually a horrible person will find a way to rationalize this.

The petty micromanaging. Or is this just Stephen Miller doing his Mr. Burns hand rubbing: ‚What can i take away from Americans today‘

I hope the black people that voted for Trump, and there are many, are enjoying this dog whistle.

    15. Trump: „I’m not racist“ <works super hard to keep doing racist things>

Blatant racism. Disgusting. It’s going to take decades to make America great again after this fuckery.

    17. We can be upset at their pettiness but until the majority rise up to form a better nation this is us.

Soon to be replaced with free admission on Robert E. Lee’s birthday and confederacy day.

Juneteenth is arguably one of the most important holidays in America. It’s a major turning point where America became a more „free“ nation.

*Noting that this was followed by a hellish period of dystopian oppression, but for a few short years, during the Reconstruction Era, America was righting a lot of wrongs.

*also noting that this exact type of regression is how Jim Crow started. Not only can it happen again, it is showing signs that it might, making Juneteenth even MORE important.

    20. They couldn’t be more racist with this shit. These are things to be commemorated not buried.

    21. drksolrsing on

Now guys, I’m sure there is a great reason for this….It’s white there in your face.

    22. Can’t wait to hear their bs reason for why picking specifically these two holidays isn’t racist.

    23. HighFivePondaBaba on

Hell yeah thank you Donald I love when things (checks notes) aren’t for free anymore

    24. stevenmacarthur on

      Of course he did.

The only surprise is that he waited this long to do it.

It’s a contest to see how racist and petty you can be in this administration.
