Is she actually gonna try to do something or is it all just lip service?

Wonder what she would say about the alternative scenarios.

She’s not wrong.
The only benefit will be deep catalogue of already made stuff.

Every time you see one large company buying another it concentrates even more wealth to the top, reduces jobs, and monopolizes the market.

No shit. I got rid of my subscriptions and started buying up discs again. My library, MY CHOICES

Little does she know that there is a large group of people who are about to swear Netflix of forever once Stranger Things is over.

There’s only one choice for me. Abandon television

Anybody who thinks this is a good thing is crazy.

To be fair here, it’s a lot better that it was Netflix over Paramount (the real evil) or Comcast (mildly evil).

It’s okay. Subscribing to streaming channels isn’t mandatory. There’s still free tv out there and you can still buy series and movies you want to see like always.

Never been a better time to emulate Captain Jack Sparrow.

NO SHIT!!! It’s almost like they are trying to create a monopoly!!! Someone should shoot that merger down!!!

True. But we can’t ignore the fact that these studio purchases and approvals are not based on entertainment anymore. It’s about feeding the propaganda machine.
ABC. CBS. CNN. Fox News.
As much as we want to dream about creativity and art of film/television. They want to be able to dictate the news in order to hide their crimes.
So, of the people bidding for WB, Netflix is the closest to being “not as evil”. And that is a very very sad thing to accept.

Not that I disagree but nothings been really stopping them from ratcheting up the subscription prices every year anyway

There’s no good outcome here though. This admin is not going to question big mergers, and TBH I think Netflix is a better buyer than the Ellisons. Not significantly better, but better

I’ll spend $25 on both combo.

Netflix is now more than double what I used to pay, has ads and doesn’t even fucking include 4k!

And even less movies in the theaters 😞

She forgot „awful quality“ and „infantile writing“. There will be plenty of that too.

I’m more concerned with all the jobs that will be lost in an already anemic job market. Over 20 years in the industry and I’m trying to figure out how to start over in my mid 40s.

Can’t raise my rate since I cancelled years ago.

Now I currently pay for both subscriptions does Netflix think people are going to pay the full amount of the 2 subscriptions or will they keep them separate?
Honestly anybody but Paramount at this point.

Not to mention the tightening of the noose for the movie going experience.

Well if you can dump your HBO MAX subscription then it actually saves you money but subscriptions are going to go up.
