Considering that Québec’s language and education dynamics more or less impose some degree of integration, this isn’t much of a surprise. The very structure of Québec is a bulwark against the worst dynamics of loose immigration policy while ensuring some sort of social cohesion.

    2. It is strange that the discussion in the article doesn’t reference the Trudeau changes to immigration policy, or the surge in immigration after 2020 as a reason for a reversal of the attitudes toward immigration.

    3. And yet the government in Quebec is harshest with its immigration policy and is trying so hard not to give actual rights to people that have been here for years so they can finish integrating and invest in building a long term life here.

The CAQ will go down as one of the worst if not the worst government in a century for how badly they fumbled every single thing they are doing and making lives worse for everyone except retired folks living outside of the province’s economic centers.
