The real discovery here is that placebo does grow hair back at all. I wonder how there are still bald men around if you can just will your hair back into existence.

topical hair solutions are a mess. It’s very difficult to follow the procedure with the required constancy. Topical minoxidil is so bad for that same reason…

>The topical drug is an androgen receptor inhibitor, meaning it directly targets the hormones that help cause the loss of hair follicles in AGA. The Dublin-based company also argues that clascoterone isn’t systemically absorbed by the body, minimizing the risk of potential side effects.
Big if true. But only if true. The problem with finasteride is that it enters the brain and affects the production of neurosteroids, particularly allopregnanolone. I’ve heard conflicting things about dutasteride but intuitively looking at the molecule I don’t see anything preventing it from entering the brain. A good example of something that won’t enter the brain is loperamide, which is too big (molecule is big).
They’re claiming that their testosterone antagonist — not exactly a surprising mechanism of action — doesn’t even enter the bloodstream, but still makes it into the hair follicle. This would be impressive, but it has to actually work. There would obviously be unacceptable side effects from a testosterone antagonist if it started acting on anything except hair follicles.
