A minor note: it looks like the chart is offset by a year from the x-axis. This is most noticeable for the large single-year bump that should coincide with 2020, but aligns with 2019 instead on the chart. This bump was, of course, the result of extremely aggressive fiscal stimulus during covid.
In b4 a bunch of people whining about how this must be fake news because they can’t afford a 4-bedroom house with a 2-car garage and an annual European vacation like they believe the average 1960s 1-income family had.

What is your source and/or methodology? The US Census Bureau series on real median household income only goes back to 1984, not 1945. https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/MEHOINUSA672N

Kinda important.
So it went from one person in a household making $40K to two people in a household making $40K over 60 years. Wonder what the average number of household members working looks like over that time. Could be two people working three jobs now lol.
