There’s about 200 distinct ethnic regions inside modern Russia with their own mother tongues. They still occasionally discover new languages that have been repressed by the muscovites.
They could made a map for Russia with all the countered ethnicities.

Soviet original has flags in alphabetical order, in the Polish version they are going from north to south.

It’s a shame that all regional dress has disappeared. Probably not as comfortable as modern clothes, but they sure were more colorful.
The way they’ve chunked up the countries, it’s like Europe’s had a bad Simon Says w/ borders.
I had this atlas as a small kid! It was the most treasured book that I had. All the national flags and traditional costumes.
It was my favorite book, when I was 5-7 yo😀
