I have a hunch that by the time they reached West Virginia they just said screw it and threw it in with good ol regular Virginia

    2. Having Georgia and Kentucky in the same grouping is absurd. Keep Kentucky with West Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Move Georgia and South Carolina into Deep South. Take Arkansas out of deep South.

Kentucky being paired with Georgia but not with WV is wild to me. Western 2/3s is good enough, so maybe an 8/10

I kinda get Fallout vibes from this map. You know with weird commonwealths. But this map is better than the fallout map at least, in my opinion.

The issue with catagorizing like this is that West Virginia is culturally closer to Kentucky and the South but just rlly far out of the way to catagorize it with them on a map. Imo alaska should ne with the pacific northwest while Hawaii and Cali are one.

Pretty good. But there needs to be an Appalachia region consisting of WV, KY, and perhaps TN.

Why does the milage chart think LA and San Francisco are only 38 miles apart?

Or am I just reading it totally wrong

    8. Nobody can ever figure out what to do with west Virginia.

Alaska and Hawaii being the same color is lazy.

Some states need to be split in order to fit the chosen descriptors.

Having said that, it’s probably an 8/10.

    9. It’s adequate in that all those states have places in regions I would call that. But southern Illinois and Cincy feel a lot different from the more northerly states. Cincy feels more Appalachian to me. Like how Appalachia would feel if it had big cities.

    10. I’d prob create a „near south“ category for States like West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri.

Pretty good. I dislike creating regions based on state’s borders, but this does a pretty good job of it, except in the Southeast and Mid Atlantic. Add Georgia to the Deep South, and Virginia to the Southeast. West Virginia IMO should become Mid Atlantic, geographically and culturally it’s not very dissimilar to the Allegheny Plateau in PA that it borders. Maryland should also become part of the Mid Atlantic region. I dislike the usage of „Capital Region“ on a map that uses state lines, because the DC Capital region is almost completely unlike the rest of Virginia and Maryland. That said, if there was a state in the Capital Region, it would probably be Maryland, so I’m not too mad about that.

Finally, Utah should be part of the Mountain West or Rockies area. The vast majority of the state’s populace lives either right next to or in between ranges of the Rockies.

I don’t know if I agree with Utah being part of the southwest 😅

I mean I-10 runs from Jacksonville to Santa Monica, that’s a pretty terrible map. (/j)

I think crap. SC is half Deep South, half southeast.

Also seems like a little glazing for DC.
