The advantage of having the entire population resent it ? Even if it’s the right way to address carbon emissions, the liberals did zero counter messaging towards how it’s beneficial (large carbon producers money going to every Canadian)

Well, the scientific consensus is pretty unambiguous: limiting warming to 1.5°C requires an immediate halt to all new coal, oil, and gas expansion. Yet Carney is fast-tracking multiple LNG projects and a new oil pipeline, while rolling back emissions caps and clean electricity regulations.

But that’s not surprising. A little bit of research shows that his current policies are consistent with his track record of greenwashing, like he did during his time leading the GFANZ. This same pattern is now being applied to Canada’s national policy, where our climate commitments are sacrificed for corporate profits.

Despite what he might say, Carney’s policies are clearly NOT aligned with climate science, Indigenous rights, or the long-term interests of Canadians. He’s more focused on the profits of the corpo-elite, including his own private investments in Brookfield Asset Management, the oil and gas industry, and his most recent venture with autocratic sovereign wealth funds like those in the UAE.

Probably not a good idea to just sit back and let him keep waltzing around… just saying.

i think Carney is actually pretty pro-environment but he also recognizes that a lot of people are about to lose their jobs and Canada is going to get a lot poorer if we don’t do something to grow the economy

    4. At face value, Carney is looking like he’s giving up on the environment. But let’s factor in the fact that he’s a pragmatist, meaning he is thinking about the bigger picture.

Danielle Smith is not a separatist, she’s just an oil and gas zealot who decided to use the threat of separatism to get a pipeline. Conveniently, the MOU now puts the onus on her government to negotiate with an NDP BC government, BC First Nations, and find a company to fund it. She’s all smiles and giggles, but I don’t think she realizes the impossible task she has now.

Getting booed by the separatists in her party is just the beginning. They’re probably plotting how to Jason Kenney her. This is her own fault for pandering to them and fanning the flames of their rage for political gain. Smith probably thinks all she has to do is deliver a pipeline and things will calm down, but it won’t be a walk in the park.

There’s all this talk about Carney and shifting the LPC rightward, or what is the place of progressives and environmentalists in the party now. But no one is talking about how much onus is now put on Danielle Smith to deliver a pipeline to Albertans, and even if she’ll be able to, or how long it will take, all while not getting sabotaged by her own party. Which I think they will.
