It is a common mistake to think the total fertility rates is how many children women will have on average over their lifetimes. However that is not correct, the TFR currently likely lower than the number of children a women will eventually have in many countries. TFR is effected by the timing of childbirths and the total number of childbirths. The completed cohort fertility rate ( CCFR” is the average number of children born to women for a specific year, has been between 1.98-2.23 for women born between 1950-1985.

    2. What is with all the recent posts about fertility rates, and what does it take for y’all to get that billionaires and oligarchs have created a planet that is hostile to raising a family.

Seriously, I’m in Texas and I can tell you right now that between how much money it costs to even live alone, the degradation of educational institutions, and the outright flagrant disregard for healthcare, ain’t anyone out here interested in having more mouths to feed than they can afford.

Well aside from maybe the girls and guys with impregnation fetishes. But even the kinky folk are risk-aware.
